Optional weld-on reinforcement for RCLT HD. This formed 1/4 in (6.35 mm) steel cap converts the rack bushing mount of a Heavy Duty MarRack Steering Rack to a double-shear, capped joint. It adds a welded brace above the rack, increases clamp surface, and creates a mechanical stop against upward pry loads from tie-rod angles at droop.
Sold individually. Order Qty 1 to reinforce either side, or Qty 2 to reinforce both. Fits passenger or driver side (see Dual-mount notes for model-specific info).
Why add it
- Resists upward pry loads at full droop by capping the mount above the rack—load is shared by the plate, not just bolt tensile.
- Spreads clamp force across the full bushing face to reduce local deformation and fretting at the frame sleeve.
- Stabilizes the joint so the M14 MarRack hardware (torque spec 111 lb-ft) can maintain preload under impact and steering shocks.
Recommended use
- Ideal for heavy vehicles, hard wheeling, and 38 in+ tires. Many RCLT HD owners run it on 35–42″ setups.
- Best installed during RCLT HD installation (see instructions).
Originally designed in 2021 for a demanding prototype, this part has been field-tested since April 2022 on multiple Moab trails, the Dusy/Ershim, and Rubicon with RCLT HD and 40 in tires.

For maximum rack-to-frame rigidity, pair this part with our Heavy Duty Center Mount for MarRack. Together they add a third load path and bracing above the rack for vertical, torsional, and horizontal control.
Serviceability
Removing your MarRack after installation is unchanged. This product does not hinder serviceability whether installed on one or both sides. Details: Owners Club post.
Dual-mount notes
Installing two Double-Shear Mounts (one per side) yields the greatest reinforcement.
2021 prototype shown
On some models (e.g., 2016 4Runner), the A/C high-pressure hard line (Fig. 1 “A”) interferes with a driver-side bracket. During RCLT HD installs on 5th-gen 4Runners, our Sub-Frame Top Reinforcement plate (Fig. 1 “B”) already spreads loads on the driver-side sleeve.
Please check your vehicle for line and hose routing before ordering two kits. A driver-side bracket can be installed where the user chooses to modify the hard line at their own risk. Ensure both power-steering lines are clear of edges after welding and paint.
