This is Advance Adapter’s Heat Treated 356-T6 Aluminum Dual Case Adapter kit for 1979-1995 4cyl Toyota Pickup and 4Runner applications with 4- or 5-speed manual transmissions.
This kit is based on our original Marlin Crawler MC05 Dual Case Adapter design from 1995, but is upgraded with a longer heat treated coupler that passes through two separate & spaced apart 209RS main shaft bearings for extra coupler support. In fact, Advanced Adapters was our original adapter manufacture back in the 1990s and we stand by their forming and machining ability.

Applications include:
- 21-spline (4cyl)
- 1979-1980 2.0L 20R with L43 or L45 4-speed manual transmission
- Note for L43: You must slightly grind down the spline-stepping on your t/case input so that the coupler inserts fully over the full length of splines
- 1981-1995 2.4L 22R or 22R-E with L50/L52, G52/G54, or W56 5-speed manual transmission
- 1979-1980 2.0L 20R with L43 or L45 4-speed manual transmission
- 23-spline (4cyl)
- 1986-1987 2.4L 22R-TE Turbo Pickup or 4Runner with R151F 5-speed manual transmission
- 23-spline (6cyl, requires extra adapter kit)
- While this kit fits 4cyl applications, the 23-spline version can be used behind a 1988-1995 3.0L 3VZ-E Pickup, 4Runner, or T100 with the use of a front bolt pattern conversion kit available separately here. This will also require a 23-spline input for the Dual Case Unit which is available separately as our XD Total-Spline 23-spline Input Gear or our Competition Total-Spline 23-spline Input Gear.
Additional Notes:
This is a Kit only. You will still need either a complete 1979-1995 4-cylinder gear-drive RF1A transfer case to use as core parts to build your Dual Case Unit, or you will need enough core parts from a RF1A gear-drive t/case to complete your Dual Case Unit. Required core parts include a front reduction housing, low range gear set, shift fork, rail, and drain plug.
