The Every Man Challenge (EMC) 4600 Class is one of the most brutal proving grounds for off-road racing. With strict regulations allowing only minor modifications, teams must retain the factory engine, transmission, and suspension design–meaning IFS trucks must stay IFS.
Sherpa’s full-bodied, stock-frame 4Runner not only survived, but completed the entire course–competing head-to-head against solid-axle trucks purpose-built for both rock crawling and high-speed desert racing.

They Pushed Toyota IFS Farther Than Ever Before
Despite extreme punishment, the team charged through the grueling rock trails, deep silt, and high-speed desert sections, becoming the first Toyota IFS in history to run the full 2-lap course without IFS or steering failure!
They unfortunately did time-out by about an hour, due to both helping a fellow competitor roll their rig back up-right as well as a hard desert hit that destroyed both their front skid plate & differential housing which took time to swap in spares. But they kept charging forward, proving that Toyota IFS CAN take on the toughest terrain in Ultra4 racing without any control arm, knuckle, tie rod, or steering rack failures.
