Application
RCLT HD Installations

This is our optional Heavy Duty Double-Shear MarRack frame mount upgrade!

NOTE: Sold separately. Order Qty 1 for one mount, or Qty 2 to upgrade both mounts. Fits either mount, however, please see Dual Mount Notes below for possible limitations.

This kit adds a reinforcement above the rack that is welded to the frame for the ultimate in frame sleeve strength and rack bushing reliability. Installing “Dual” mounts increases the rack-to-frame connection size by 4.5-times greater than stock light-duty steering racks.

Benefits:

  • Prevent Toyota’s steering rack mount design being yanked out of the frame in high stress applications
  • Enlarged contact area covers entire bushing preventing passenger-side bushing failure

Recommended Use:

  • As of August 2022, we only recommend this product when running 38″ or larger tires. There is no harm in adding this kit to other setups, and we run it on our personal RCLT HD-equipped vehicles ranging from 35″ to 40″ tires
  • It is recommended to install during RCLT HD installation. See instructions for details

Originally designed in 2021 for an undersized prototype passenger-side frame insert, now available as an upgrade kit for either passenger- or driver-side MarRack mounts! Tested since April 2022 on sixteen Moab trails and our local Dusy/Ershim trail with RCLT HD & 40″ tires.

Combined with our Heavy Duty Solid Center Third Mount Upgrade, the Marlin Crawler MarRack has an 8.2-times larger rack-to-frame connection making it the strongest and most reliable Toyota/Lexus IFS steering rack mount available.

Servicing of your MarRack post-installation

Removal of your MarRack post-installation is performed in the same reverse order in which it was installed. This product does not change or hinder the serviceability of the MarRack regardless if using a single or dual mount installation. Please see this Owners Club post for details!

“Dual” Double-Shear Mount Notes

Installing two H.D. Double-Shear MarRack Mounts, one per side, is recommended for maximum strength and durability.

2021 Prototype shown, click for larger viewUnfortunately, on some models such as a 2016 4Runner, the A/C high pressure hard line (Figure 1 “A” below) interferes with our Double-Shear Mount rendering a driver side bracket impossible. Fortunately, during RCLT HD installation into 5G 4Runners, our “Sub Frame Top Enforcement” plate (MCSU-181417) is installed here (Figure 1 “B”) which increases strength of the factory frame sleeve design by spreading loads over a wide area of our “Driver Side Frame Sleeve” (MCSU-1814103).

Please inspect your setup and consider possible interference issues before ordering two kits. We will update the above table with more applications as we receive feedback from installers!

A driver side Double-Shear Bracket could be installed should the user choose to modify the hard line (Figure 1 “A”) at their own risk. Figure 2 shows driver side installation onto a Tacoma with no line interference. Slight bending of the P/S high pressure line may be required. Ensure both P/S lines are not rubbing against sharp edges of bracket.
