As you find and upgrade weak-links on your truck, you’ll eventually conclude that Toyota axle housings are prone to bending, especially when they are launched into flight or are used on custom 3- or 4-link suspension setups. Reinforcing the axle with a gusset between the differential and the driver’s side knuckle can seriously increase the strength and rigidity of the axle housing.
To the left you can see our truss installed atop the front axle housing of this 1982 first gen Hilux. The truss distributes loads across the front axle between the passenger’s side spring perch and third member for reduced axle flex, stress, and fatigue.
Typically installed with (1) an aftermarket lift of 2″ or taller for oil pan clearance, and (2) factory torque rod (track bar) removed to maximize front axle articulation.
Made in USA with High Quality USA Steel, designed for 1979-85 Toyota live-axle housings.
