| From the outside
the G52 and G54 look identical. Inside there are some major
differences. The G52 uses the same bearings as the L52. The G54 uses
larger more reliable shaft bearings and stronger redesigned gears.
These combine to make the G54 stronger and longer living then it's
little brother the G52. To tell the difference between them you need
to remove the front nose cone (8 bolts) and look at the input shaft
bearing. This bearing will have a number on it that will tell you
what gear set is in your G series transmission.
