| Tacoma Dual Transfer Case

In 2002, Marlin Czajkowski developed the world's
very first Tacoma/4Runner Dualcase Crawler. Based on the bullet-proof double
roller MC08 Billet Aluminum Dualcase Adapter, Marlin expanded his product
line to include the Tacoma-series drivetrain, and ushered in a whole new series
of adapters. Marlin Crawler is the first company in the world to offer a Dual
Case setup in a Tacoma/4Runner by placing a Hilux Gear Drive Redution Housing
in between a Tacoma/4Runner Transmission and Chain Drive Transfercase. This extra
Low Range unit comes standard with a 2.28:1 Low Range, and can also be fitted
with our 4.70:1-TS™ Gear Set.

In
order to install a Hilux Low Range Reduction Housing between a Tacoma/4Runner
Transmission and Transfercase, two adapters are required to get the job done.
For the front adapter we use a 1/2" thick Billet Aluminum Plate to mate a Hilux
Reduction Housing behind the Tacoma/4Runner transmission. And for the rear
adapter we use another Billet Aluminum Plate to bolt a Tacoma/4Runner Chain
Drive Transfercase behind the Hilux Low Range Housing. And what we end up with
is the Marlin Crawler TacoBox™, a fully assembled Dualcase Unit.
The heart of the TacoBox™ is the rear
adapter, the Marlin Crawler MC09. This 6th generation Dualcase Adapter features everything
you'd expect from the quality and reliability of Marlin Crawler. First we machine a block of
solid Billet T6061 Aluminum on a CNC mill. Then we use our 32-Ball Double
Roller Bearing, the same double roller bearing that has proven itself
since 1999. Next we create a Heavy Duty Oversized Coupler and Heat Treat it
for the ultimate in strength and reliability.

The end
result is the MC09 Adapter. This adapter allows a gear drive reduction housing
to mate to the front of a Tacoma/4Runner chain drive transfercase.

The front Adapter
Plate is much more simple than the Rear, but it plays an equally important role.
Shown to the left is our New 34-4GT-R10 Adapter. It is just like our
34-4GT adapter (invented in 2002), but it has a
Rotation option of 10-degrees to help get the front driveline up and out of the
rocks. When combined with the MC09-R10 adapter, a total rotation of 20-degrees
is achieved. Like the Rear Adapter, the
Front Adapter is made from a solid piece of Billet T6061 Aluminum. Again Marlin
realized that the coupler is perhaps the most important component of these kits,
so he built the adapter around a special heat treated oversized coupler. This
Front Adapter plate (like the 30-4GT) allows a Hilux Gear Drive Reduction Housing to be
bolted directly behind a Tacoma/4Runner 5-speed or Automatic Transmission.

The Front Adapter part numbers are designated to eaisly identify each Application:
- 27-4GT -> 2.7L Auto or Manual Trans to 4-cyl Gear Drive T/case.
- 34-4GT -> 3.4L Auto or Manual Trans to 4-cyl Gear Drive T/case.

TacoBox™ is available for all 4WD 4-cylinder (2.7l) or 6-cylinder (3.4l),
manual or automatic transmssion, Right-Hand or Left-Hand front output, IFS or
SAS (Solid Axle Swap), 1995.5-2005 Tacoma or 4Runner, 2.28:1, 4.00:1,
4.70:1, 4.97:1 available Gear Ratios. The TacoBox™
is a highly versitle Dualcase Marlin Crawler that will work with nearly
any type of drivetrain under your Tacoma/4Runner today. |

For Automatics, we recommend anywhere from 70:1 to 100:1 as an Ideal Crawl Ratio.

TacoBox™ Assembled Unit Left-Hand Front Output
This is a Completely Assembled RTI (Ready To Install) Unit
for a Left-Hand front output setup. Unit is assembled with our MC09(-R10) Dualcase
Adapter and our xx-4GT-R10 front adapter plate. Clockable options include 0-Degree, 10-Degrees
or 20-Degrees. Please specify your desired rotation during check-out. Includes:
TacoBox™ Unit, Oversized Coupler, Seal Adapter, Sealant, Attaching Hardware, and a Shift
Handle with our Marlin Crawler Turtle Knob. 4.00:1 and 4.97:1 ratios available on request.

Typical dualcase installation cost is $900 including heavy duty drive
shaft retubing. Solid front axle converted Tacoma's will also need an
additional custom cross member to allow for drive shaft movement.
